Why the payout is a buy
The pool is never paid in SOL. The program spends the whole vault buying the coin on the open market and sends what it bought to the winners. Winners are paid in the thing they were competing on, and the payout itself is the largest single buy of the round, landing at the exact moment the board is settled.
This means the prize is not a number promised in advance. It is whatever the coin's creator fees added up to by the time the line was crossed, converted into tokens at the price at that instant. A quiet round pays little. A loud one pays a lot. Nobody tops it up and nobody can hold it back.
The split is fixed in the program at 40, 20, 12, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 1, 1 percent for places one to ten. If fewer than ten wallets have completed a round trip when the line is crossed, the shares that have no wallet roll to first place.
